Panorama
Jonkershoek
Route Description
Overview:
Jonkershoek is Stellenbosch natures gem; tucked away in the mountains it is easy to miss.
The Panorama Route is a classic Jonkershoek hike with big rewards for steady effort. The trail climbs gradually through forest and fynbos before opening up to wide, uninterrupted views over the Jonkershoek Valley and surrounding peaks. Expect a good workout, plenty of photo stops, and scenery that keeps getting better the higher you go. A perfect half-day hike for those wanting views without technical terrain
Weather:
Be prepared for changing weather with a light mid-layer and rain jacket, ensuring comfort throughout your adventure.
Early morning or late afternoon hikes are recommended during the summer months to avoid the midday heat. In winter, clear days are ideal, but be cautious of slippery paths after rain.
Good to know:
The start of the Second waterfall hike sits deep into the Jonkershoek valley. Gradual at the beginning with a well maintained sandy path we will pass the first waterfall visible from far on the approach. With a quick stop and possible swim on the warmer days we will carry on to the second waterfall.
